Wiki Reflection

Windows Movie Maker in Writing Technology Wiki was interesting because it was the first time for me to actually add to an entry like Wiki. At first it was simple because all I had to do was read over the previous entry that was done last semester and then I made corrections on spelling. The way how I did the spell check is by copying the whole entry from the “Edit” button then I paste it on to Microsoft Word then spell check and there were plenty of spell checks corrected.
Another thing that I did on Windows Movie Maker Wiki is adding the new version information and facts that I encountered during my project. There was not much to add to the Wiki itself about the new version because everything was similar to the others, but just some more additions. The previous entry was kind of plain because it only had one huge screen shot of the program itself at the bottom of the screen, but I changed the screen shot to a current one and I also found a smaller picture which did not take the whole bottom. I actually decided to post the screen shot towards the middle so it attracts the reader to continue reading the following information. After finding the screen shot I found another picture which was the logo of Windows Movie Maker and I added that to the first section of the page. I did not know how to resize the picture or where to exactly place the picture on the page but after viewing other pages I kind of found out how to place it to the right or left.
Another thing that the Windows Movie Maker page did not have was the strengths and weaknesses of the program in writing because the previous entry only had the strengths and weaknesses of the software itself. I left what the previous entry had about the technology and added another section about how it benefits writing. I also added more information to the strengths and weaknesses of the software as a technology and erased the ones that were fixed by Microsoft.
For the category page, it was a little bit more difficult to add or delete anything because the previous entry had the main idea of what video editing was. I was talking with the group about finding more information about the history section because it just listed some video editing software with no history at all. It was a difficult task to find out when video editing was introduced because everywhere I searched for it, more and more software come up rather than the history. At first I added a picture on the side to make the page more attractive then Addison found a better picture by making a collage of the programs which made the Category page look more interesting.
Other than that, I think one of the harder tasks was getting used to the Wiki style of editing pages because it is different from html or other editing sites because it has its own codes.

Mobile Mobs?

The last article we read about mobs and protesters using the phone as a tool was interesting. i was going to say something in class about a recent text message hoax about a walmart gang initiation shooting which got many people scared to even go to walmart. When i was reading the article it made me think about this though which is odd because it just happened then we're reading something about it. But like what we were mentioning class about how the receiver of the text usually does not know what is going on but usually goes to it which made me think about how text is a fast way of getting peoples attention, but it does not specify the news. I guess text messaging could be considered a promoting tool for businesses too.
Well heres a funny clip off subject.

WIKI WEEK

So this week we have been focusing on our wiki projects and i have been working on the video editing software Windows Movie Maker, and i have to update the information in the wiki itself because they are the older version of windows. i find that the Wiki sight is very interesting because i never really knew that we can add text into the web sites itself and i find it very interesting too how we can edit some of the pages. for the main video editing page, we as a group need to make it more interesting because it is just text without any pictures so my group is planning to make it more interesting.

Ihde and the WORLD!!

One of the interesting things from the reading is the relationships of how Ihde decribes of the human to the world and the machines. I like how we discussed in class about the relationship of the cane to a blind man because thinking about it, the cane is the only tool for the blind man to experience the world. Actualy thinking about it, there are many tools out there that we the human use without thinking about how it effects our experience with the world. I think that everything that we use are changing our experience with the world. For me, i think one major object would be cars because when cars were introduced, people did not observe the world since cars go by places at a fast paced and before that, people rode horses or walked which they were more observative.

A Machine that has a mind of its own?

Lexia to perplexia is the weirdest program or sight i have ever been to. At first it looked like a normal site of clicking an icon and something else coming up, but as soon you you start getting into the program itself, it does things by itself. The program does not follow a same situation like a power point where you control when a slide or object appears on the slide but the program itself comes up with its own ideas and topics to pop up as if it has its own mind to think for itself because the material or programs in there don't repeat themselves like how humans are and it is always changing. Also the reading before that was interesting too, it was kind of interesting when Hayles comes up with these new vocabs like technotext or like *.fect and it is suppose to mean other meanings as if it is a symbol of another language.

Tech week!!

Well this week, we have been in the computer lab. I have Windows Movie Maker and it is going pretty good so far. i have been taking small clips here and there and slowly combining it into a 5 min film. Hopefully it will work out perfectly planned, but life is not always perfect. I think one of the difficulties would have to be coming up with the script because i plan to narrate some of the time on the film with some important facts and linking it to our subjects in class. There is really nothing much to talk about this week though..

Only if I had another Arm?

WOW!!Clark's book is very interesting especially with the Sterlec guy who made a third arm. Something that we mentioned in our group about this is how expensive it is and that it is not worth the money for the outcome. Thinking about this, i really think we don't need another arm because with everything that is out there, it will be very difficult to get used to it and also since it is so different people will view me as opaque character and i don't think I'll ever be transparent. And how I think this relates to writing is the similarity of a person's idea of writing compare to another idea of technology or inventions. An example would be Sterlec coming up with the idea of his third arm and showing it to people during his shows would be similar to how people write like how Shakespeare's writing is weird to us today, but in the past, it may have been the writing is today. A good example would by how we text today and with all the slang that we use.

Here'e something really interesting. This is off topic, but look at this. This is only the music from Microsoft Xp..

iWho..iWhat..iPod

iPods these days are well known by everyone. This could be a saying that "you're not cool with out an iPod" which now and days everyone has one, even the little ones. Going back to one of the discussion how we go into our own world with the iPod headphones, I totally agree on some of the discussion about when we are around strangers, we put on our headphone and ignore the stranger. iPod has grown to be the most popular device out there especially when its also a phone now too, but I can sense that in the future something else will be introduced and iPod would be like a discman to all of us. Another interesting thing is about how to ignore the survey or other people who are trying to talk with you and how the fact that if you have your head phones on then it's more likely they're not going to bother you and just thinking about it, it is true. Another interesting thing is about listening to the same tune when you're doing the same thing or in a certain mood.

LONG LONG COLD WEEK!!!

Technology..Technology..Everything is base on Technology..Technology involves some science too since without science our technology will not improve and back to what we were talking in class, I think that there is not a real definition of what normal science is because there is so many scientist out there with their own specialty.
About the discussion in class, some of them were really interesting especially when Shue was talking about the gun, bullet and person and how it's really the bullet killing a person but we see it as a person killing a person and this is very interesting to me too. Also, about the football Superbowl touchdown too because not thinking about it that it's just a catch but it matters to everyone especially the bets that people made against it. Another example would be some of the laws in the US such as stop signs, we don't need to stop but we still follow what we we're taught to do for the safety of the people. A lot of things out there can be viewed in different angles and people can have different perspective on them too.

14 WEEKS TO GO!!!

Well the first week of classes was fabulous, especially with the cold. Other then that everything went well because I have started a whole new list of courses for a different major. Back on subject about English this week, blogging, I have never ever really knew what blogging was until now, especially with the minute YouTube video that was shown in class. Blogging seems interesting to me because I can write down my thoughts about class and other subjects. I never knew that Professors actually used blogs as a communication because I always thought of it as a youth thing similar to texting. it was interesting to be introduced to the Professors blog page and it also interesting that we are doing blogs in class so we can have a discussion on the side. Then, for this weeks topic of technologies of writing, I never really knew that Thoreau's family had a pencil manufacturing business which shocked me. Also, the pencil is actually a technology which is odd because the pencil does not seem like a technology because today, we see technology as electronics expensive things, but in reality every thing is technology to make humans have an easier life. With today's technology, I think that in the future we will have robots doing every thing for us and that we wont be doing any labor since we have the robots.
